Optimum SQUID Readout

چکیده
We have developed a 1:30000 winding ratio cryogenic current comparator (CCC) for measurement of small currents, e.g., generated by a single electron transport device. A dedicated low-noise SQUID is used for the readout, which allows reaching a sensitivity close to ideal, that is without loss of sensitivity in the flux transformer coupling the CCC and the SQUID. The CCC-SQUID equivalent current input noise using a 1:30 000 winding ratio is 2.1 fA/Hz1 2, measured down to 0.1 Hz. Room temperature impedance measurements on CCCs appear to be a useful method for the determination of the screening by shields surrounding the CCC as well as for the detection of internal CCC resonances.

Novel Superconducting Quantum Interference Device Bootstrap Circuit and Its Application in Biomagnetism
The voltage biased SQUID Bootstrap Circuit (SBC) was recently demonstrated for direct readout of SQUID signals. The SBC combines currentand voltage-feedbacks in one circuit to suppress the preamplifier noise. It offers not only a good noise performance, but also wide tolerance of SQUID parameters. Using SBC gradiometer, the bio-magnetic signals were successfully measured. In this paper, we over...
متن کاملSingle SQUID Multiplexer for Arrays of Voltage-biased Superconducting Bolometers
We describe a frequency domain superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) multiplexer which monitors a row of low-temperature sensors simultaneously with a single SQUID. Each sensor is ac biased with a unique frequency and all the sensor currents are added in a superconducting summing loop. A single SQUID measures the current in the summing loop, and the individual signals are lock-in ...

The Cooper pair box qubit of a two-junction-SQUID configuration enables the readout of the qubit states by probing the effective Josephson inductance of the SQUID. This is realized by coupling the qubit to a high-Q tank circuit which induces a small alternating supercurrent in the SQUID loop. The effect of a small (but finite) geometrical inductance of the loop on the eigenstates of the system ...

Superconducting Josephson junction devices rank among the best candidates for realizing a quantum computer. While the coherent control of quantum dynamics has been demonstrated in these solid-state, macroscopic quantum systems, a major challenge has been to increase the coherence times for these qubits. With an objective to reduce the level of readout-induced decoherence, this thesis work focus...
